Description
The Doux is the sweetest leather home fragrance oil in the collection, and the largest. Whiskey, violet, saffron and aldehyde open it boozy and a little powdery; leather, incense, carnation and tuberose crowd the middle; vanilla, musk, patchouli and vetiver settle it into a slow, smoky evening.
What The Doux smells like
A glass of something brown, left on a side table in a room with a fire going. The whiskey note is the first thing anyone comments on — it is unmistakable and it does not fade quickly. Saffron sits alongside it, warm and leathery in its own right, while violet and aldehyde add a cold powderiness that keeps the opening from being purely sweet.
The heart is dense. Leather and incense together are the smoky spine of this fragrance, and carnation and tuberose push in from either side with something spiced and white-floral. It is genuinely crowded in there, and that is the character of the thing rather than a flaw.
What it settles into is softer than where it starts. Vanilla and musk round it off, patchouli deepens it, and vetiver stops the vanilla from making the whole thing gourmand. Hours later the room still smells of it.

Where to use this leather home fragrance oil
Studies and dining rooms in the evening. This is an after-dark leather home fragrance oil and it does not really make sense at nine in the morning. Living rooms work when you are settling in for the night rather than passing through; bedrooms work if you like a heavy scent to sleep in, and plenty of people do, but dose it low.
Autumn and winter. In a warm room in summer the vanilla and tuberose become a lot.
It is not the leather home fragrance oil for a hallway. A hallway rewards a scent that reads instantly and then gets out of the way, and this one does the opposite — it needs half an hour and a closed door to make sense.
Is The Doux right for you?
Choose it if sweetness in a leather appeals rather than worries you. Among the four leathers this is the outlier — the others are dry, and this one is not. If you have liked boozy, incense-heavy fragrances before, this will land immediately.
Two alternatives worth naming. The Cowboy is the clean, restrained version of leather — cardamom, iris, cedar, nothing sweet — and is far easier in a shared room. The Gentleman keeps some of the fruit but stays tailored and dry underneath, with suede and woody amber instead of vanilla.
One practical note: the whiskey and vanilla lingers in soft furnishings. In a room with heavy curtains or a fabric sofa you will still catch it the following day, which some people buy it for and others find is one day too many.
How to use it
This is a concentrated oil for cold-air diffusion. Not a reed diffuser, not a candle, not a wax burner.
